Dressing for the Albion Victorian LARP 2027

More specific to Vampire Clan's ideas and advice.

Clan Fashion

There is no official Clan uniform. Kindred are individuals, and members of the same Clan may dress very differently. However, Clan culture can provide excellent inspiration.

Ventrue — The Lords of the Night

A Ventrue normally understands that appearance is part of authority. Victorian London is filled with aristocrats, bankers, industrialists, military officers, politicians, and businessmen—all excellent identities for a Ventrue to cultivate.

A male Ventrue might wear:

  • Black or dark frock coat

  • Crisp white shirt

  • Fine waistcoat

  • Silk or carefully tied cravat

  • Tailored trousers

  • Polished boots

  • Gloves

  • Pocket watch

  • Walking cane

  • Top hat

A female Ventrue might favor:

  • Carefully fitted dark gown

  • Fine shawl or cloak

  • Gloves

  • Cameo or family jewelry

  • Brooches

  • Decorative bonnet

  • Small handbag

  • Jewelry displaying family wealth or status

A Ventrue costume should generally communicate:

“I belong here, and everyone else should know their place.”

The character does not necessarily need to be extravagantly dressed. In many cases, excellent tailoring, clean clothing, restrained jewelry, and perfect presentation will say more about a Ventrue than excessive decoration.

Brujah — Rebels, Scholars, and Revolutionaries

A Brujah may look very different.

Some Victorian Brujah remain intellectuals, philosophers, political radicals, and educated reformers. Others move among laborers, soldiers, dockworkers, criminals, or London's growing revolutionary underground.

A working-class Brujah might wear:

  • Rolled-sleeve shirt

  • Rough waistcoat

  • Dark trousers

  • Suspenders

  • Heavy boots

  • Worn coat

  • Flat cap or battered hat

  • Fingerless gloves

  • Scarf or neckcloth

A more educated or politically connected Brujah might wear:

  • Long coat

  • Dark waistcoat

  • Simple cravat

  • Well-worn boots

  • Books, journals, or pamphlets

  • Spectacles

  • Messenger bag or satchel

A female Brujah might wear a practical long skirt and blouse beneath a worn jacket or cloak, perhaps appearing more like a worker, political organizer, tavern keeper, writer, or revolutionary than a society lady.

A Brujah costume might communicate:

“Your titles mean nothing to me.”

A Brujah's clothing does not have to be poor or damaged. Some Brujah may be wealthy. The difference is often that their clothes appear practical, individualistic, military, academic, or deliberately unconcerned with aristocratic expectations.

Toreador — Artists and Creatures of Fashion

Toreador often follow fashion closely—or believe themselves important enough to define it.

Look for:

  • Velvet

  • Silk

  • Decorative waistcoats

  • Lace

  • Fine gloves

  • Jewelry

  • Flowers

  • Brooches

  • Elaborate shawls

  • Artistic accessories

Painters, musicians, actors, poets, socialites, and patrons of the arts all make excellent visual inspirations.

Their clothing often says:

“You were meant to notice me.”
